Only in this News Issue we are able to publish some of the photos, of Cambodian Swimmers, what our club swimmer Chamraen made during WC. Also, some team’s pictures what we could find in Internet just today.
We were trying to do our best, to submit only credible info, without any pre-justice. We have got some positive comments, about our job, from our readers, what they left at Comment Corner and besides, many positive comments, from our readers what they told to our magazine/club management through sms, calls and during meetings. During last 10 days, the quantity of our readers increased significantly! Since we launched our magazine online, few months ago, 850 viewers we have got for today! Before Dec 1st our magazine online was viewed just from several countries, of course Cambodia, also from USA, Australia, Germany and Bulgaria. As on 18th Dec, we have readers from India, Australia, USA, Bulgaria, Hungary, Ukraine, Russia, Serbia, Singapore, Vietnam, Laos, Turkey, Estonia, France, Sweden, China, Germany, even Saudi Arabia! For the first time, we saw somebody from Kampong Cham province of Cambodia, also read our magazine, it means that people in Cambodia, interested in swimming sport development, live not only in capital, but in the provinces too! And, we also know, that some of our short announcements people read on Facebook, as they put their comments there, read at some other social sites and through emails, so total out auditorium for sure has passed 1k mark already!
Right now, we struggle, to prepare, make proper design and publish materials we have, it takes a lot of time, and in order to publish more information faster, we do not pay proper attention, for design, right now. In many cases, we have to edit, previous articles, because we receive something new, connected with previously published info, for example, during last week, we needed to update 3 times Cambodian National Swimming Records Men for Short Course File, as to put two new records and put additional comment. After last article, in local newspaper Phnom Penh Post, as we guess, one more comment is needed.
SO, OUR DEAR READERS – IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT FOR YOU: DO NOT HESITATE, TO CHECK AGAIN, PREVIOUSLY PUBLISHED ARTICLES: IN MANY CASES, YOU WILL FIND MORE INFORMATION THERE, UPDATED TIME BY TIME! Unfortunately, officials from Cambodian Swimming Federation not cared to accept his might be very valuable help, in terms of consulting for long distances training for elite Cambodian swimmers, or for organizing Masters competitions here, or for preparations for this World Championship what was held in Birant’s native country – Turkey, but our sport club's management always tries to get his advices and he frequently shares with us his interesting ideas and valuable info...

Best Performance Athletes Results
Lochte has now an accumulated total of 30 medals at these championships since his first appearance in Indianapolis in 2004. Moreover, the 11-time medallist at the Olympics was the only swimmer to establish new World Records in Istanbul: firstly in the final of the 200m IM (1:49.63) and then in the semi-finals of the 100m IM (50.71). Lochte's performances decisively helped USA clinch the title for Best scoring team in Istanbul.
"My overall performance this week was decent, I had a couple of World records and it was an honour. I'm glad I was able to step up for the team. I always feel I can do better", said Lochte after the event.
Looking ahead, the U.S. champion added: "After the Olympics, I took a two-and-a-half-month break, this was the longest break ever since I was 8 years old. My biggest goal is Rio 2016." And continued: "I push my body to limits where other athletes are afraid to go to."
His last word went to his family and fans: "The fans are incredible, they brought me where I am today. I love kids because I am a big kid too. I have to be thankful for my family, they're my biggest supporters. I'm also thankful for my fans, they've given me so much love, especially at this meet."
Hungary’s Katinka Hosszu was awarded the FINA Trophy for Best female swimmer. She earned five medals in the five-day competition: 1st 200m fly, 3rd 400m IM, 1st 100m IM, 2nd 200m IM, and 2nd 200m free. The winner of the 2012 FINA/ARENA Swimming World Cup demonstrated her immense versatility in the pool, ending in the best possible way a fabulous 25m season.
"It feels awesome to be the Champion of the meet. I'm proud that Hungary won so many medals at this competition", said Hosszu.
Besides these two major stars, other athletes also shined in Istanbul. With three or more appearances in the podium, the following swimmers are worth mentioning:

A TRIO of
Cambodian swimmers returned home yesterday from the 11th FINA World Swimming
Championships (25m) in Istanbul, having failed to progress from their heats but
having set national records for short-course events.
National
coach Hem Kiry was especially pleased with the performances of his male squad
members, Maximov Chamraen Youri and Hem Thon Ponloeu, saying their times showed
they had improved significantly over the past few months.
Chamraen,
17. came 114th out of 155 heat finishers in the men’s 50-metre freestyle
competition with a time of 25.85 seconds.
Ponloeu, 22,
ranked 125th after swimming the distance in 26.22 seconds.
Chamraen
smashed his previous best of 27.03, set during the 2010 World Championships
(25m) in Dubai and, with an absence of other official short- course times held
by the Khmer Amateur Swimming Federation, he assumes the national record.
Ponloeu
obtained a national record of his own, however, after competing in the men’s
50m breaststroke, setting a time of 31.83 seconds to place 78th out of 106. “He
beat a lot of people,” coach Kiry said of his younger brother.
Hem Thon
Vitiny, the only female Cambodian representative, competed in the women’s 50m
freestyle event on Saturday.
Her race
time of 30.02 seconds, which put her 88th out of 108, was described as “not a
bad one” by her coach and uncle Kiry, who believed the 19-year-old may have
been adversely affected by the cold weather in Turkey. Vitiny shaved more than
a second and a half off the time she swam in Dubai two years ago.
Kiry said he
was very satisfied with the standard of Cambodian swimming and was looking
forward to the next big event, the 27th SEA Games in Myanmar, in 12 months’
time.
He bemoaned
the lack of other quality rivals in the Kingdom, however.
“My swimmers
need to get more experience,” Kiry said. “[They] need someone to challenge
[them], to chase them to get better.”
Aquatics Cambodia Comments:
1. “Chamraen,
17. came 114th out of 155 heat finishers…”
Chamraen is 16 years old. Not 17, as mistakenly was written in Phnom Penh Post
Newspaper in last two articles about swimming. He was born on 06.01.1996. This
is becoming a trend, to put for our swimmer wrong age, make him older! During
SEA Games 2011, when he was 15 years old only, in the entries data for his age
was put 18 years! Now, in Phnom Penh Post, in one article before World
Championship, his age was put as `16 years old, but in two articles published
later, his age was put as 17 years old! Especially, for Phnom Penh Post
Newspaper journalists, we will scan and put official data with date of birth
for every member of Cambodian Delegation in WC 2012, which was submitted by
KASF to Organizing Committee.

“Chamraen smashed his previous best of 27.03,

Federation, he assumes the national record.” The truth is, that since organizing again, after Khmer Rouge regime, in 1984,
Khmer Amateur Swimming Federation, people who manage it, and it is
practically a Family Swimming Federation, as all people who make management and
logistics, people making coaching, and leading swimmers who participate in major international
competitions – 99% are one family members, so that people, responsible for
developing of swimming as a sport, in Cambodia, did not do, one simple and very
important thing: built credible database, of National Records, according FINA
rules, for both Long and Short Courses. Not to say, about database, for age
groups records, about PBT database for at least leading swimmers. Since 2009,
many times, we were pushing, KASF, to start to make proper database, starting
from National Records Long Course, after do Short Course and so on, offering
our help, free of charge, to do it. This is long story
actually, if to speak just about Short Course National Records Database, Mr.
HEM Thon told in 2011 very strange sounded for us remark, that in Cambodia, we
do not need, Short Course database for National Records, for swimming, because,
there is no short course swimming pool inside the country, and National Team,
just very rare takes part, in SC competitions abroad!
We absolutely
disagree, with such point of view, because: 1. even, if National Team, take
part in SC competitions just 1 time in 2-4 years, and just few swimmers swim
each few distances there, their best results, must be submitted for SC National
Records, because in future, if swimming sport will be more developed and we are
sure, that it will be, Cambodian National team will take part, more frequently,
in SC meets; 2.if today we do not have SC swimming pool in this country, it
doesn’t mean that tomorrow it will be not! Already, it is started, to construct,
if to believe what Phnom Penh Post Newspaper tells us. 3. In FINA definitions,
of National Records, it is clearly stated, what times, from what competitions,
can be submitted, as National Records: it doesn’t matter, if somebody from Hem
family disagree with it, but as stated in FINA rules -every swimmer, who swim,
under Cambodian flag, at a swimming meet, enrolled as Cambodian citizen, and
this meet, is held, with accordance of FINA rules, with swimming pool, proper
size, with proper timing made etc. and make time, better, than previous known National
Record or, swim at distance where no were any known National record, and there
is Team Manager File or Official Result from the meet – if all these conditions
met, this time is eligible for National Record! So, why, if Mr. HEM Thon, does not want to follow FINA rules and to accept, times what were made, in
international competitions, by Cambodian swimmers who participated there from
their clubs, in competitions worldwide recognized, some of them held annually for
more than 20 years, where in some cases, Cambodian swimmers not only made
National Records, but won gold medals, so why, because of just one person
position, even if he was well-known swimmer in Cambodia in the past, why, in
this country has to be continued such ridiculous situation, when no any
database for Short Course National records exists? We were waiting, for 3 years
already, but finally, decided, with help of experts from FINA, to build such a
database without any help from KASF and it was created! For all distances
available at this moment. Made with accordance of FINA rules. If, somebody
doesn’t like it, so it is just position, of such people, but we believe, that
for future developing of swimming as a sport, in Cambodia, we did very right
thing. Long journey always starts, from the first step. We made such a step.
If, somebody would like, to discuss, database what we made, to show, some
mistakes, or to make some amendments, from professional point of view – please
welcome, to do so! W so want, a professional discussion and professional help! But
not to say, that Cambodia doesn’t need to have National Swimming Records for Short
Course – this we cannot accept.
