We spent countless and sleepless nights, trying to find and evaluate relevant data for Cambodian swimmers participation in major world and regional swimming competitions since 1960-s!!! For World Championships Short Course 25m Pool we have right now the following data for 3 WC for Cambodian Swimmers:

5^th WC SC 2000 in Athens, Greece:

-         HEM Kiry 100 Butterfly Men Heats, 1:00.37 min, PBT, NR, 31 place (incl. Intermediate Distance 50 Fly PBT/NR  28.10 sec)

-         HEM Kiry 100 Individual Medley Men Heats, 1:03.64 min, PBT, NR, 29 place

8^th WC SC 2006 in Shanghai, China:

-         HEMTHON Ponloeu, 16 years old, 50 Freestyle Men Heats, 29.25 sec, PBT, 93 place

-         HEMTHON Ponloeu, 16 years old, 100 Breaststroke Men Heats, 1:16.07 min, PBT, 59 place

10^th WC SC 2010 in Dubai, UAE:

-         HEMTHON Vitiny, 17 years old 50 Freestyle , Women Heats, 31.65 sec, PBT, NR, 92 place

-         Chamraen Youri, 14 years old, 400 Freestyle Men Heats, 4:49.74 min, PBT, NR, 3^rd in Heat, 51 place

-         Chamraen Youri, 14 years old, 50 Freestyle Men Heats, 27.03 sec, PBT, NR, 2^nd in Heat, 108 place

-         Place N achieved by an athlete in Heats Races not exactly reflects progress or regress in his swimming performance: the quantity of athletes and heats were very different  in different meets, for example: in 2000 Hem Kiry best place number he got was 29 place for distance 100 IM among 31 swimmers, in 2006 Hemthon Ponloeu was 93 at distance 50 Free among 96 swimmers, in 2010 Chamraen Youri was 108 at distance 50 Free among 131 swimmers! With each year, more and more swimmers were competing, in various distances. In our next News Issue, hopefully, we will be able to publish analysis of expectations, for Cambodian Swimmers performances at this WC, if we can find Heats Entries Data: unfortunately, there is not such a data available at WC official website yet on the evening of 11.12.12, what is really strange as tomorrow is 1^st day of the Championship!

Also, especially for our Cambodian readers and funs we will explain, what is the difference between performance in 50m standard swimming pool, where races called Long Course and 25m standard swimming pool, where races called Short Course. This should be understandable, as a lot of confusions with this issues among public in our kingdom, as there is no any standard SC pool in the whole Cambodia and currently just one running somehow LC pool at Olympic Stadium in Phnom Penh, so most of the people here simply never saw, in their life, training and competitions in SC swimming pool.
