During Khmer Rouge period and civil war
in Cambodia the data of some results of Cambodian Swimming Records was lost and
could not be verified during preparation of the current National Records SC Database.
The current database of Cambodian
National Men’s Records for Short Course 25 m standard swimming pool was
created with assistance of experts Royal Sport Club “Nautilus” from Cambodia. Right now, in the time of creating this database in 2012, it is
only one credible database known, made with strict accordance with FINA rules. The
current data is not, recognized by Hem family local Cambodian swimming
federation, which hold official name - Khmer Amateur Swimming
Federation. Or, better to say, that we are not aware, if, the current data, is recognized, by Hem family local federation, or not, as they do not provide for us, any information and avoid, any contact since long time ago. If anybody can share info to correct any currently listed record, it can be
submitted at email: cambodiaswimming@gmail.com with the following attached documents
for verification: team manager file (or any credible written info) from
competition what was held under FINA rules and must have athlete’s name, time
result, date, venue and name of the meet; any document to certify athlete’s
nationality on the day of competition (accept till only the date of 01.01.2015, as after this date we decided to stop update the current database) .

All local meets in Cambodia since 1980
were hold in LC 50 m swimming pool standard only as no any SC standard 25 m
swimming pool exists in the country at
the time of creating this database in August 2012.

LAST DATE OF RECORDS DATABASE MONITORING: 01.01.2015. AFTER THIS DATE WE SHALL STOP UPDATE THE CURRENT DATABASE, FOR ALL FUTURE CHANGES IN RECORDS DATABASE PLEASE REFER TO OTHER SOURCES.
The present Cambodian Short Course 25 m Men's Records are based on results just from several SC Meets such as 5th FINA World Swimming Championships 2000, Athens, Greece, 10th FINA World Swimming Championships 2010, Dubai, UAE, Japan Open 2007,Tokyo, DTAC ISB Splash Meet, Bangkok, Thailand 2010 and few meets in Indonesia. If somebody have information, about participation of Cambodian male swimmers in other SC swimming meets, made with accordance with FINA rules, please kindly contact us at email: cambodiaswimming@gmail.com or through this website, so we could verify your info and made corrections with present database.

ReplyDeleteWe are not aware of any credible result for 200 fly SC. If smbd know - pls share with us.
DeleteWe also do not have credible data yet for 1500 m freestyle and all relays. In Cambodia, no any standard swimming pool 25 m exists, so no any SC competitions at all. Since September 2009, Cambodian swimmers participated only in 3 SC Meet abroad - WC SC 2010, WC SC 2012 and one swimmer went for DTAC ISB Splash Int Meet in Thailand in 2010 on club level. And, during WC 2012, not all swimmers could swim all distances available, because of mistakes in their entries made by Cambodian Swimming Federation officials.
ReplyDeleteWe will try, to arrange participation of leading 2-4 Cambodian swimmers at least at one SC competition abroad every year and control their entries, for such competition, so for every swimmer, maximum available distances to swim and their best performance’s distances will be selected.

For Relays Records: according FINA definitions of National Record - only when relay team participates in competitions as National Team, its time can be considered as National Record. This reason, only Cambodian Swimming Federation, or Cambodian NOC, or Cambodian Ministry of Education and Sport, can send National Relay Team, to competitions where countries, not just sport clubs participate. Right now, Cambodia participates only in 1 short course competition - World Championship SC and even not regularly - since 2000 from 7 WC available Cambodia could send swimmers only to 4 of them, and only for individual distances. Two main objectives - lack of funding, as for sending 4 male or female swimmers so relay team can be formed, Cambodia needs to cover all expenses at least for 2 additional swimmers (for 2-3 swimmers FINA provides full coverage), and another objective - not enough high level of performance of Cambodian swimmers yet, so difficult to expect, that National Relay Team can be accepted at the highest level of world competition for SC as World Championship is: even from more advanced countries in swimming in SEA Asia, there are no relay teams participating in SC. Maybe, if it will be found, a regional SC competition, in SEA Asia, where countries participate and it will be enough funding, to send relay team, and it will be enough wisdom, from responsible for it officials, to put maximum entries for distances available to swim for Cambodia National Team swimmers incl. relays - maybe after that, it will appear National Records in relays for Cambodia in Short Course.
You do really great job!! I never could find any Cambodian records for swimming. I know some results for 50 M swim pool, but never saw for 25. Now I can see all data for records here, all well documented, amazing!! This the best data prepared I saw, even in Sing or Malays not so good made as you did. Thank u so much !!!

I noticed that there're some unfinished articles and no coverage for last SEA Games, what has happened? Anybody, helping you in your work? From what sources you finance this project? I read in Cambodian press that only one local family manages Khmer swimming federation since long time ago, they are officials, coaches, top swimmers and do all the job - is it still like this? No any other people involved? How about other local federations, they also do like family clubs? And, how they help you, where do you find all info?

Now, just want to share, with our readers, about topics we were discussing. 7117 visitors from 101 country and territory have visited so far, Aquatics Cambodia.
